Lead Generation
I start with a needs analysis to uncover the root cause of the issue and identify the most effective training solution. This is discussed in a kickoff meeting with stakeholders.
I create a design document with course goals and topics, followed by a detailed storyboard to align with stakeholders and emphasize real-world scenarios. I then develop the course using the storyboard and refine it through feedback cycles.
The course is rolled out to employees using the company’s learning management system (LMS) or another platform. I ensure all technical aspects are functioning properly and provide any necessary support to facilitate a smooth launch.
I measure learning outcomes with assessments (Kirkpatrick Levels 2 and 3) and track on-the-job behavior changes to confirm effectiveness.
The initial design of this project started as a rough visual outline, which I created in Mural. Because I knew designing a branching scenario would be complex, I created this outline to include each decision point, the correct / incorrect feedback, and potential outcomes.
Finally, given the complexity of the branching scenario I storyboarded, I decided to develop the course in Articulate Storyline. I sourced, created, and edited all of the course graphics using the stock images and shapes available in Canva.
One of the challenges I ran into in designing this course was figuring out the right triggers and variables to simulate a realistic text message conversation at the start. It took a lot of testing and tweaking to get the timing and logic just right so that the interaction felt natural and immersive without overwhelming the learner.
Another tricky aspect was using multiple motion paths to replicate the look and feel of text messages arriving at delayed intervals. Balancing the movement and timing was essential to create a believable conversation, and it required plenty of trial and error to align everything smoothly.
I also ran into some hurdles when recreating a flip card interaction for learners to explore key concepts. The initial version required multiple spin animations, which felt clunky and didn’t deliver the polished effect I wanted. After exploring alternative approaches and simplifying the design, I finally landed on a version that was both functional and visually appealing.
